With over 9 million native speakers Swedish takes the title for the most spoken Scandinavian language. Even though most Swedish speakers reside in Sweden, Swedish is actually a co-official language in Finland alongside Finnish. Although famous for its musical or sing-song type sound, Swedish is classified as an easier language for native English speakers and conjugating verbs is especially simple. At the same time though, people looking to learn Swedish with be faced with some unusual grammar, such as when definite articles are suffixed to nouns and create one word. For example, 'a book' in Swedish is 'en bok' but 'the book'turns into 'boken'. These minor grammar differences should be no deterrent to learning this beautiful language though!
